What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser so it can recognize the browser on the next visit. This policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage.
Cookies we set
| Name | What it does | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| ms_session | Keeps you logged in. It holds a random token; your account details stay on our servers | Strictly necessary | 30 days, renewed while you use the app, removed when you log out |
| ms_oauth_tx | Protects Google login from forgery while you're on Google's page | Strictly necessary | 10 minutes |
| ms_known | Set after you log in or sign up, and kept when you log out: when you open a link to the app while logged out, it shows the login screen instead of sign-up. It holds only “1” and doesn't identify you | Strictly necessary | 400 days |
| ms_promo | Only when you open a link with a promo code: keeps the code so it's added to the account you create. Removed once it's used | Strictly necessary | 7 days |
| ms_theme | Remembers whether you chose the dark, light or system theme | Preference | 1 year |
| ow_lang | Remembers the language you picked for the site and the app | Preference | 1 year |
| ow_seen | Remembers the language of the pages you read during this visit, so the login and app screens open in it and we don't switch the language on you again. It holds only a language code | Strictly necessary | Until you close the browser |
| ow_lbar | Set when you close the “This page is also in…” bar, so it stays closed for that language | Preference | 1 year |
| ow_fx | Only if you visit from a country where we show prices in its own currency: holds that currency and the day's exchange rate (for example “EUR_0.89_20261020”), so our prices show approximately in your currency. It doesn't identify you. You always pay in US dollars | Preference | 1 day |
| ow_cc | Only when you open a page with “?cc=” and a country code (we use it to check another country's prices): keeps that country's prices for this visit. It holds only the country code | Preference | Until you close the browser |
| ms_optin_ask | Set when you answer “Not now” to the new-looks email question under your first photo, so we don't ask again. It holds only “1” | Preference | 400 days |
| ms_noan | Staff only: set when one of our team chooses “Don't count this browser” in our admin tools, so their own visits stay out of our statistics. It holds only “1”. Visitors never get it | Strictly necessary | 400 days |
| ms_consent | Remembers your answer to the cookie banner, so we don't ask on every page | Strictly necessary | 1 year |
| ms_cr | Remembers whether the cookie banner has to ask you first where you are (in the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland). It holds only “1” or “0” | Strictly necessary | Until you close the browser |
| ms_vid | A random visitor ID that records the first page and campaign that brought you here, so we know which channels work. It isn't shared with anyone | Measurement | Up to 12 months |
| _fbp, _fbc | Set by Meta's pixel to connect a visit, signup or purchase to a Meta ad | Advertising | 90 days |
| _ttp | Set by TikTok's pixel to connect a visit, signup or purchase to a TikTok ad | Advertising | 13 months |
| __oppref, __obref | Set by OpenAI's pixel to connect a visit, signup or purchase to an ad in ChatGPT | Advertising | 30 days (__oppref), 12 months (__obref) |
| ms_px_signup, ms_px_checkout, ms_px_trial | Carries a one-time event number from our server to the ad tags after you sign up, start a checkout or start a free trial, so each conversion is counted once | Advertising | 10 minutes (signup), 24 hours (checkout, free trial) |

Statistics without a tracking cookie
A small script on our pages tells our server which page you opened, which links and buttons you clicked, the site and campaign tags that brought you here, how long the page was in use, and your browser's language and whether it's a touch device. It stores nothing in your browser. If you're logged in, our server reads your login cookie only to note that you were logged in (yes or no, not who) and whether the account was created during this visit.
Our server works out an approximate location (no finer than a city) and a visit identifier from your IP address and browser, together with a key that changes every day. Then it discards the IP address. We can recognise a visit only within the same day and never link it to your account. We use these statistics only to improve our website; they aren't shared or used for ads. We keep visit records for 400 days and page and click records for 190 days.
In the EU, the EEA and Switzerland we count your visits only after you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner. Anywhere, to turn this off, choose “Reject” in Cookie settings at the bottom of any page, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We then stop counting your visits.
Cookies set by others
When you pay, you're on Stripe's checkout page, where Stripe sets its own cookies to prevent fraud. If you log in with Google, Google sets cookies on its own pages. Their policies apply: Stripe and Google.
We use Meta, TikTok and OpenAI tags to measure our ads. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they load only after you choose “Accept”; elsewhere they're on until you choose “Reject” in Cookie settings, and a Global Privacy Control signal keeps them off everywhere. While they're on we also tell these partners from our server when you sign up, start a free trial or pay: a hashed email address, the page, your IP address and browser, the ad click ID and the amount. A free trial is reported as its own event (StartTrial, amount 0); a purchase is reported only when a payment is made, including the first payment after a trial. The browser and the server send the same event number, so a conversion is counted once. Their policies apply: Meta, TikTok, OpenAI.
Your choices
Strictly necessary cookies can't be switched off without breaking login. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we set the ms_vid measurement cookie and the ad cookies only after you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner. Elsewhere they're on until you choose “Reject”. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a “no”, which also stops the cookie-free statistics. To change your answer, use “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page; choosing “Reject” removes ms_vid, stops the ad tags and deletes their cookies and stops the cookie-free statistics. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
