You as a one-of-a-kind handmade doll, made from one photo: your hairstyle, hair color, glasses, beard and outfit rebuilt stitch by stitch, photographed on a cozy wooden table in warm window light. Crochet amigurumi is the default; you can also pick a felt puppet, a needle-felted wool figure or a claymation figure.

How to make a crochet doll of yourself with AI
To see a custom plush doll from a photo of you before ordering one, upload a selfie to Crochet Doll of You: 1 photo per run on any plan, and new accounts get 3 free photos. The result is a photo of a handmade crochet doll of you sitting on a wooden table in warm window light, with your hair, glasses, beard and clothes worked in yarn. Outwow makes the picture; no doll is sewn or shipped.
- Add a selfie or waist-up shot to Your photo: one person, face in clear view, no sunglasses.
- Keep Material on Crochet or switch to Felt puppet, Needle felt or Claymation. Each one sets its own props on the table, from yarn balls and a hook to clay and sculpting tools.
- Create it for 1 photo. The template frames the whole doll, so look at the face first, then at the outfit colors.
How much does the doll look like you?
It depends on the material. Crochet is the most stylized: in our runs, people were recognizable by skin tone, hair, glasses, stubble, clothes and eye color more than by the exact face. The other three keep the face closer, and Needle felt gave our best likeness: the test man kept his thin glasses, stubble and grey temples. The puppet drew faint freckles darker than in the photo.
Skin tone is matched in the material itself. A test woman with deep brown skin got deep brown yarn in both crochet runs, and a light olive tone came out as light warm yarn. The crochet doll can still get glossy bead eyes with a dark outline, the classic amigurumi look, even though the template asks for flat embroidered eyes.
What can you use it for?
- Comparing crochet, felt and clay on the same photo before you commission a real doll.
- A cozy profile picture for a knitting or craft account.

Result
Crochet, made from the synthetic test selfie on the left. Skin tone and freckle dots match. The curls sit at the sides instead of tied back, the eyes are glossy beads, and the doll looks a little younger. - AI-generated sample input
Result
Needle felt, made from the synthetic test selfie on the left with an earlier version of the template; its needle-felt wording has barely changed. Glasses, stubble and grey temples carried over.
How do I get a better result?
- Choose the photo in the outfit you want rebuilt. Collars, buttons and patterns become small crocheted garments in the same colors, and navy stays navy; logos and words are dropped.
- A close selfie is fine. Below the edge of your photo the doll gets plain trousers or a skirt and little shoes that suit the top.
- Mind what is in your hands: a cup or a book may come back as a tiny handmade one, while a phone is left out.
What goes wrong most often?
- Expecting a cute generic doll with lashes and pink cheek circles. The template asks for an adult face of your age and no makeup your photo doesn't show, yet one of our crochet runs still had a light pink blush.
- Picking Felt puppet for a full-length figure. It is a hand puppet that sits upright on the table; in our runs its body ended at the waist, where a hand would go in.
- Using it for a cat or dog. This template makes people; Plush Version turns a pet photo into a soft toy, and Drawing to Plush Toy works from a child's drawing.
