Pet Jack-o'-Lantern
AI photo template · from a pet photo
Your pet's face carved into a glowing pumpkin, your pet beside it.

Example result. Yours is made from your own photo.
A jack-o'-lantern carved with your pet's own face: the ears, muzzle and markings are shaved into the pumpkin so they glow as shapes of candlelight, and your pet sits or lies right beside it at dusk. Pick a classic orange pumpkin on a fall porch or a white pumpkin among pillar candles. The fur, face and markings stay your pet's.

How to make a pet jack-o'-lantern photo with AI
For a Halloween photoshoot idea for dogs that needs no costume, upload one photo of your dog or cat to Pet Jack-o'-Lantern. You get a dusk photo of your pet beside a pumpkin carved with its own face, the ears, muzzle and markings glowing as shapes of candlelight. A run costs 1 photo on the Free plan, and a new account's first 3 photos are free. Choose a classic orange pumpkin on a fall porch or a white one among pillar candles.
- Upload a clear photo of your pet's face turned toward the camera, one animal only. The carving is drawn from the ears, muzzle, eyes and markings in it.
- Choose the Pumpkin, Classic orange (the default) or White with candles, and press Create (1 photo).
- Hold the result next to your photo: the ears and markings on the glowing face should match your pet's. If they drift, run it again with a sharper photo.
How can a carved pumpkin look like one particular pet?
The template imitates the shaded style carvers use for custom pet-portrait pumpkins. Instead of cutting holes, the carver peels the skin and shaves the flesh to different depths, so a candle inside shines brightest where the flesh is thinnest. Your pet's coat is mapped onto that light: the lightest fur glows yellow, mid tones amber, and the darkest fur and markings stay as uncut skin. That is how a white blaze, a dark mask or tabby stripes show up on the pumpkin.
Two coats got extra rules. Our sample golden retriever first came back tinted red-gold, so a cream or light golden coat now stays as light as in the photo. An all-black coat has no light fur to glow, so the template carves a black pet as a glowing outline with bright highlights on the forehead, cheeks and muzzle; on our sample black Labrador the carving read as a Lab, and the dog stayed black.
What can you use it for?
- A Halloween post for a pet that refuses to wear anything: no costume, and no real candle anywhere near its fur.
- A reference for a pumpkin-carving night, to show what a shaded portrait looks like before anyone starts.
- A pet that won't hold a pose: dogs come back lying on their belly, cats sitting low or lying down, whatever your photo shows.

Classic orange, made from the synthetic test photo on the left. The coat stays as pale as in the photo, and the carving copies the open-mouth smile with the tongue. - AI-generated sample input

White with candles, made from the synthetic test photo on the left. The cat stays white with green eyes; up close, this carving's darker sepia lines read a little more like a backlit drawing than the orange one.
Which photo of your pet carves best?
- Pick a photo where both ears are in full view, not cut off by the frame. The carving copies their exact outline and angle, upright, folded, floppy or bat-like.
- Use the expression you want on the pumpkin. The carving follows the face in your photo, so an open mouth with the tongue out comes back carved that way.
- For a black or very dark coat, shoot in daylight so the fur shows a shine. The carving of a dark pet is built from those highlights.
What goes wrong most often?
- Uploading two pets in one photo. The scene holds one animal and one carved pumpkin, so run each pet on its own photo.
- Expecting a costume on your pet. Only the pumpkin is dressed up; for a pumpkin sweater or a witch hat on the pet, use Pet Halloween Costume.
- Hoping for your pet's name carved in, or a classic grin with triangle eyes. The carving is your pet's portrait, with no letters or numbers anywhere.
