How to do the Ghostface AI trend with one selfie
To do the Ghostface AI trend without writing a prompt, upload one selfie to Y2K Slasher Phone Call: 1 photo per run on the Free plan, and a new account gets 3 free photos. You come back as a grainy late-90s flash photo, lying on satin sheets and chatting on a see-through corded phone, while a figure in a plain white mask and a long black hooded robe stands in the dark doorway behind you.
- Upload a sharp selfie that faces the camera. Your face ends up large and close to the lens, and your hair keeps its own color, length and part.
- Pick a Mood, Pink bedroom (the default) or Blue hour, and press Create (1 photo).
- Check the prints on the walls at full size. They are meant to be wordless abstract art, but a run sometimes leaves a squiggle that looks like lettering; run it again if it bothers you.
What is the trend, and what does this version leave out?
The trend copies a scene from 90s slasher films: someone chatting on a landline in their bedroom, unaware of the masked stranger in the doorway behind them. It spread on TikTok in the fall of 2025 as a flash-lit photo made from a selfie and was still going around a year later. The template builds the room from that era: point-and-shoot flash, heavy grain, a lava lamp and a clear plastic phone with its colored parts showing.
This version keeps the mood and drops the costume from the films. The figure wears a smooth white oval mask with two small eye holes, holds nothing and stays in the doorway. In all nine of our test runs the mask came out plain white, at most with a faint outline of a nose and lips. There is no blood, no knife and no text. "Ghostface" here only names the trend people search for; Outwow is not affiliated with the Scream films or their makers.
What does an example run look like?

Result
Pink bedroom, made from the synthetic test photo on the left: the best of four runs on it. The others had white sheets or walls, a squiggle like lettering on a print, or a look away from the lens. - AI-generated sample input
Result
Blue hour, made from the synthetic test photo on the left, 3rd run on it. The 1st looked lilac rather than blue and caught her eyes closed mid-laugh; the 2nd pinned her hair up. A ring the template never asked for appeared on one finger.
How do I get a better result?
- Show your hair's length and part in the selfie. Pink bedroom styles it with two face-framing pieces and small butterfly clips, Blue hour with one claw clip at the side.
- A man's selfie works too: the outfit switches to an oversized flannel shirt over a white tee and pajama pants, and his own hair and facial hair stay. We ran a sample man in both moods.
- For a Halloween picture where you wear the costume yourself, try AI Halloween Costume Try-On; for a flash photo with no stranger in it, Night Beach with Flash.
What goes wrong most often?
- Uploading a selfie with a friend in it. The bed holds exactly one person, so the second face has nowhere to go.
- Expecting a date stamp in the corner. The template asks for no date stamp, letters or numbers anywhere, so add one in a photo editor if you want that detail.
- Expecting a closer, scarier stranger. The figure stays still in the open doorway at the far wall, behind you, with its hands hidden in its sleeves.
