A gentle portrait to remember your cat or dog by.

Example result. Yours is made from your own photo.
A gentle portrait of a pet you miss, made from a favorite photo: resting in a sunny meadow under a faint rainbow, painted in oils among garden flowers, or in soft watercolor with a warm glow. Soft angel wings and a halo are there if you want them and left out if you don't. The face, fur and markings stay your pet's, and there are no words in the picture.

How to make a memorial portrait of your pet with AI
To make a pet memorial portrait with AI, upload one favorite photo of your cat or dog to Pet Memorial Portrait and choose a style. You get one picture of your pet, calm and with its eyes open: resting in a sunny meadow under a faint rainbow, painted in oils among garden flowers, or in soft watercolor. Soft wings and a halo are optional. A portrait costs 1 photo and works on every plan, Free included.
- Choose the picture you most want to remember them by, with the face and eyes clear. Its background doesn't matter: the meadow, flowers or paper replace it.
- Pick a Style: Meadow & rainbow (preselected), Oil with flowers or Watercolor glow. Leave Wings & halo on None, or choose Soft wings or Wings and halo.
- Press Create (1 photo). Before printing, compare it with your photo at full size: markings, eye color, the set of the ears. Portraits made on the Free plan carry a watermark; paid plans save them without one.
What does the portrait keep, and what does it leave out?
The likeness comes first: head shape, ears, eye color, fur colors and every marking in its place, at the pet's own build and age. It sits or lies with the legs and tail it really has, so a docked tail stays short and a missing leg stays missing. A collar appears only if your photo shows one, without a tag. Apart from the optional wings and halo, nothing in the frame points to death: no graves, urns, candles, tears, gates in the clouds or people, and no words.
We ran it ten times on six synthetic sample pets, three cats and three dogs. Markings, eye color and ears held. The white and the ginger cat looked slightly fuller in the cheeks than in their photos. Sitting pets all came out facing the viewer square-on, including the tabby that sits turned three-quarter in its photo. Pets with a docked tail or three legs were not among our samples.
What can you use it for?
- A framed print for home, with the name and dates written on the mat.
- A picture to send to the people who knew the pet.
- A gift for someone whose dog or cat has died, made from a photo they shared.

Which style suits your pet?
- For a white or very pale pet, Watercolor glow works well: on our long-haired white cat the fur was shaped with lavender and peach shadows, so it didn't disappear into the white paper.
- For a black or dark coat, try Oil with flowers first: our black Labrador's fur kept its detail on the dark umber and olive ground.
- The expression comes from the photo, so pick one with the look you remember: our golden retriever kept its open-mouth smile.
- Wings take the medium of the style: real feathers in the meadow, brushwork in oil, washes in watercolor.
What goes wrong most often?
- Picking Wings and halo when you want something quiet. The halo is a crisp glowing ring above the ears, and in our meadow run it looked a little ornamental; Soft wings alone, or None, is calmer.
- Using a photo of two pets together. The portrait shows one animal, and you can't choose which, so crop the photo to the pet you want first.
- Expecting the name in the picture. Nothing is written in the frame; Modern Pet Portrait With Name is a flat illustration with the name set under the pet.
